Girls married under Kanyadan Yojana have kids now but financial aid still awaits in MP

Bhopal: In a fresh salvo aimed at his predecessor Kamal Nath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Shivraj Singh Chouhan here on Friday alleged that the girls married under CM Kanyadan Yojana now have kids but they haven’t received the financial assistance announced under the scheme by the former Chief Minister.
While speaking at a public meeting in Balaghat, Chouhan referred to CM Kanyadan Scheme, a flagship scheme of his earlier tenure, saying then CM Kamal Nath had hiked the financial assistance under the scheme to Rs 51,000, but girls married in the scheme in Nath government tenure are now blessed with kids but they are yet awaiting the announced help.
To add, CM Kanyadan Yojana is a flagship scheme of Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh, which offers financial assistance to couples married in mass marriage functions. In power in 2018, then Chief Minister Kamal Nath had announced to hike Kanyadan assistance scheme to Rs 51,000 from Rs 28,000.
Later in year 2020, The Shivraj government had announced to reverse the decision.
However later on the Shivraj government had restored the Rs 51,000 amount offered in the scheme and Rs 48,000 are transferred in bank account of the girl and Rs 3,000 are given to local body concerned which organised the mass marriage function, according to CM Helpline portal.
Chouhan as part of his efforts to promote girl child had launched the scheme in year 2006.
Meanwhile on Friday, Chouhan yet again slammed Kamal Nath for limited mobility amid ongoing local body polls saying the MPCC chief is urging voters to exercise franchise but he himself did not cast his vote in the polls on Friday. To add, third and last phase of panchayat polls is underway in MP on Friday.
I have cast my vote in my native village, said Chouhan.
Commenting on the ongoing debate over communal flare ups, Chouhan made it clear that the BJP honours every religion but won’t let terrorists survive on Indian soil.
Those who don’t have roof above their heads, would be offered land under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana and would also be offered money to build a house, said Chouhan.
As the local body polls are underway, both Chouhan and Nath are trading barbs with Chouhan regularly assaulting Nath's limited movement in poll-bound regions.
