Gwalior Police Arrested Accused with False MDMA Drugs, High Court Orders Rs 10 Lakh Compensation

Gwalior:The Gwalior police's claim of arresting seven accused with MDMA drugs in September 2022 turned out to be a false charge after forensic investigation found the seized powder to be urea. Expressing displeasure over this violation of the accused's rights, the High Court granted bail to one of the accused and ordered the Director General of Police (DGP) of Madhya Pradesh to compensate him with Rs 10 lakh within two months. The court also urged the DGP to recover the compensation from the irresponsible officers and ensure that such mistakes do not happen again.
One of the seven accused, Mohit Tiwari, had filed a bail application for the second time in the High Court, arguing that the police had wrongly implicated him by showing the seized powder to be MDMA drugs. The court ordered his release on bail after it was confirmed that the powder was urea.
The rest of the accused are still lodged in jail, and the police have said that they will send the seized powder to the Central Forensic Lab for further investigation.
The Gwalior police's claim of seizing MDMA drugs for the first time in the city has been proven to be false, raising questions about their investigation procedures and the use of informants.
