BJP Councilor's Video Dancing in Temple Premises Sparks Controversy

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: A video of BJP councilor Kusum Chaturvedi from ward number two of Bhopal has gone viral on social media, showing her dancing with other women on the song 'Pile-Pile O Mere Raja'. The controversy surrounding the video is that it was shot in the temple premises of Sant Hirdaram Nagar (Bairagadh), and the Congress has accused the councilor of hurting religious sentiments and spreading obscenity in the temple.
However, the councilor clarified that the video is from a birthday party organized in a yoga center away from the temple. The party was attended by locals, and the video is 10-12 days old. The councilor accused the Congress of defaming her and the BJP, adding that they do not like partying with cold drinks.
Congress leader Naresh Gyanchandani criticized the BJP councilor, saying that the act of playing such songs in the temple premises hurt religious sentiments. Many locals have also raised objections to the incident. He called for the BJP to immediately sack the councilor, and warned that agitation will be launched against the matter, which is tainting their culture.
This controversy comes on the heels of recent incidents of BJP leaders making controversial statements about women, further fueling political tensions between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
