High Court Orders State Government to Consider Promotion of 55 Naib Tehsildars to Tehsildar Position

Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has given a major relief to 55 Naib Tehsildars who are currently posted in various districts across the state. In its recent order, a single bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi has instructed the state government to consider promoting these officials as Tehsildar. The court has asked the government to pass appropriate decisions in this regard by taking into account its past decisions and the government's order of November 29, 2016.
The court has set a time limit of three months for the state government to complete this entire process. The petition was filed by 55 officials including Damoh resident Vikas Chand Jain, from districts such as Katni, Sagar, Rewa, Singrauli, Panna, Sehore, Burhanpur, Umaria, Vidisha, Chhindwara, and others. Advocate Rahul Diwakar represented the petitioners in court and argued that the government had issued an order on November 29, 2016, relaxing the condition of five years of experience for the promotion of Naib Tehsildar to three years.
The revenue department had started the process in this regard, but DPC (Departmental Promotion Committee) was not done for promotion. For this reason, the petition was filed in the High Court. The government argued that the Supreme Court had given instructions for maintaining status quo in such cases. However, the petitioners cited the past decisions of the High Court that clarified that the interim order of the Supreme Court would not be an obstacle in the matter of promotion.
This decision by the High Court has brought relief to the 55 officials who had been eagerly waiting for their promotion. The government's response to the court's order is still awaited.
