Bhopal: The crime branch has arrested the female leader of the gang who had committed a series of cheating incidents with elderly women in the capital in the past. The female thug, along with her accomplices, had committed a robbery in Bairagarh, Kohefiza and TT Nagar and looted goods worth about one million. Police arrested the accused woman and started questioning her. The woman's gang included a child and a youth.
According to the information received from the crime branch, on January 16 in Bairagarh, in broad daylight, vicious thugs snatched a 50-year-old woman's ring and mangalsutra from her and ran away. Similarly, on January 17, an 80-year-old woman was duped in Kohefiza. Later, one of the accused again duped a retired lady doctor in TT Nagar in a similar manner. Later the leader of this gang had disappeared along with her gang. Taking cognizance of the incidents of serial fraud, the top officials along with the police station had engaged a special team of Crime Branch for arresting them.
The Crime Branch scanned more than 300 CCTV cameras around all the three crime scenes. The presence of the gang members who committed the fraud were found in the footage. When the crime branch activated its informer system and started looking for the accused, it was learned that this gang had been spotted in Gandhinagar. The gang had come to Gandhinagar to attend a wedding and returned to Delhi on January 19. On this the Crime Branch team left for Delhi. Where the police raided the hideouts of this gang.
For three days, the Crime Branch was raiding the hideouts of the suspects in Delhi. On January 23, the Crime Branch got success and the leader of this gang Meena Rathore alias Meena Solanki (31) resident of Sultanpuri Outer Delhi was arrested and brought to Bhopal. Here she told the police during interrogation that she had committed all the three incidents along with her accomplices Sonu Khan, Raj and Sitaram. The crime branch has seized the jewelery looted from the woman in the TT Nagar incident. The woman is being interrogated on remand. The rest of her companions are being searched.
