Bhopal: A young man from Karnataka was arrested by the Habibganj police on Monday after he attempted to deposit a fake demand draft worth Rs 33 crore at the Manisha Market branch of Punjab National Bank. The incident caused a stir at the bank, with the staff immediately informing the manager about the suspicious demand draft.
According to the Habibganj police station in-charge, Manish Raj Bhadoria, the bank staff became suspicious when a person named Prabhudevati Trihatrinath arrived at the bank to deposit the demand draft. The manager, Bhagwan Singh Yadav, quickly alerted the police after discovering that the demand draft was fake.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused, Prabhu Devati, revealed that he was given the fake demand draft by a businessman from Delhi. The police have registered a case against the accused under various sections including cheating, and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
The incident has highlighted the importance of being vigilant against fraudulent activities, especially in financial transactions involving large amounts of money. The Habibganj police have urged the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately
