Infant Mortality Rate in MP: Every day 50 newborns die in Madhya Pradesh, in seven months nine thousand 43 newborns died in 59 SNCUs of the state. The condition of Bhopal's Kamla Nehru Hospital is worst in the state, 673 newborns died in seven months.
Bhopal: New born deaths in Madhya Pradesh have now given sleepless nights to the health department. Deaths in SNCU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in hospitals have given sleepless nights to the health department. No experiments are working to reduce the number of deaths in SNCU. There have been record deaths in the state's SNCU in seven months. Nine thousand 43 deaths have been recorded from April to October 2022. The worst condition in this is of Kamla Nehru SNCU of Bhopal. 2,620 newborns were admitted here in seven months. Out of this, 673 newborns died. Apart from this, the mortality rate is very high in SNCUs of Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ratlam in the state.
During the review of the Health Department, it was found that 55 to 60 percent of the children being admitted in SNCU were not born in that hospital. Means the delivery took place in some other hospital. When the health of the newborn deteriorated from there, treatment was done at the local level. When critical, he was referred and admitted to SNCU. In such circumstances the chances of death increase.
Not only in Bhopal, the condition of SNCU in the state is bad in almost all the metropolitan cities. From April to October 2022, 492 newborns died in Jabalpur SNCU. The death rate here was 21.5. At the same time, 486 newborns have died in Rewa's SNCU. The death rate here is around 22.3 percent. In Ratlam too, about 390 newborns have died. The death rate here is around 19.03 percent.
