Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Director General of Police, Sudhir Saxena assured the families of the martyrs that the Madhya Pradesh government, police administration and the entire society are with them. Only by keeping the atmosphere of peace, harmony and brotherhood strong in the society will pave the way for development. DGP Saxena was addressing a program organized in the Police Commemoration Day function organized in the Martyrs Memorial courtyard located at Lal Parade Ground today. He paid tribute to all the martyr police officers and jawans of the country and the state. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Home Dr Rajesh Rajoura and Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai were also present in the program.
Director General of Police, Sudhir Saxena said that October 21 is a day of remembrance of the sacrifice of police and paramilitary forces in protecting the integrity of the country and maintaining internal security. In the year 1959, on October 21, 1959, at an altitude of 16,000 feet, 10 soldiers of a CRPF patrol contingent under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Karam Singh were killed in an encounter with the Chinese Army at the inaccessible hot springs of Ladakh. All the police units of the country celebrate 21 October as Police Commemoration Day in the memory of their devotion to duty and the sacrifice of their lives for the defense of the nation. The brave soldiers and officers of our Madhya Pradesh Police have also given their services and martyrdom from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from Goa to Nagaland.
