Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh- In a strategic move ahead of the proposed assembly elections in November, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to extend the tenure of Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bais until 30 November 2023. This decision, which has garnered widespread agreement across various levels, aims to ensure continuity in governance during the crucial electoral period. Notably, a similar extension was granted to Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh prior to the 2018 assembly elections.
With the impending end of Bais' increment period on May 31, it is worth mentioning that his half-year tenure was completed in November 2022. On the very day of his retirement, he was granted a six-month extension, given his exceptional service and notable contributions to the implementation of government schemes. Moreover, his amicable relationship with the Chief Minister further solidified his candidacy for the extension.
