Madhya Pradesh, Balaghat: Inspector General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Fareed Shapu informed that as part of the anti-Naxal operation of Madhya Pradesh Police, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Hawk Force has succeeded in killing three rewarded Naxalites. In which two men and one woman are Naxalites. For the first time in Madhya Pradesh, a DVCM (Division Committee Member) level Commander-in-Chief Naxalite Nagesh alias Raju Tulavi of GRB Division has been killed and an AK-47 rifle has been recovered.
On June 20, information was received by the informer about the presence of Naxalites in uniform in the forest area of the hills of village Kharadi under Bahela police station. On the information of the informer, the Special Operation Group Hawkforce was dispatched towards Kharadi forest at 5 am by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Anti-Naxal Operations, to arrest the Naxalites, to lay siege. The team laid siege to the forest area. Sensing the siege, the Naxalites fired indiscriminately on the police, on which the police force was given a warning of the Naxalites to be surrounded and surrender. Despite the warning, the Naxalites fired indiscriminately with the intention of killing the police party. There was self-defense retaliatory firing by the police party. Firing continued for about 45 minutes from both the sides.
Shortly after the firing stopped, a search operation was carried out by the police force, in which the bodies of two male Naxalites and one female Naxal were recovered. Uniformed male Naxalites were identified as DVCM (Division Committee Member) of GRB Division and Commander Nagesh alias Raju Tulavi, aged about 40 years, resident of Botezhari police station, Gyrahpatti district, Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. A reward of 29 lakhs was announced jointly by Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh on Nagesh. The other two Naxalites were identified as Manoj, aged about 25 years, resident of West Bastar, Chhattisgarh and female Naxalite Rame, aged about 23 years, resident of Korsagudem, Jagargunda, District Sukma, Chhattisgarh. Both the Maoists were members of the Tanda Area Committee of GRV Division. A reward of Rs 14 lakh each was declared jointly by the Madhya Pradesh government, Maharashtra government and Chhattisgarh government on these two Naxalites.
An AK-47, a three-not-three rifle, a revolver, a 315 single shot rifle, combat pouches and a bag were recovered from the spot. Along with this, two wireless sets, a GPS tracker, detonators, a cooker bomb and other items of daily use and other Naxal material have also been recovered by the police. Many criminal cases are registered against these three Naxalites in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
