Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Under the guidance of Director General of Police Vivek Johri, the trial run of e-FIR service of Madhya Pradesh Police was started from the SCRB Police Headquarters from Thursday, 12th August. Additional Director General of Police (SCRB) Chanchal Shekhar said that during this trial run, any victim of civil vehicle theft (up to Rs 15 lakh) and general theft (worth Rs one lakh) can file an E-FIR on Madhya Pradesh Police website and citizen portal.

The accused should be unknown for e-FIR and there should be no use of force in the incident. With this citizens will be able to register FIR without going to the police station. Necessary instructions have been given to all the police stations in this regard. This facility will be available 24 hours 7 days. By taking immediate action on the complaint of the complainant, the matter will be resolved within the time limit. This will reduce the time taken to get the insurance amount in cases of vehicle theft and citizens will be constantly aware of the action taken in the case registered through e-FIR. As soon as the complainant uploads the application, he will get the unique number and the format of FIR on his mobile in PDF form through SMS. After reading the complaint of the complainant, the concerned station in-charge will OK the FIR and immediately appoint an investigator and start the investigation.

Various institutions, SCRB and MAPIT are involved in the implementation of e-FIR. Trial run is done before any software is implemented on a large scale so that the problems faced at the field level of the service can be resolved. Due to this, the trial run of e-FIR was started on Thursday. Apart from this, social media web pages of all the districts have been prepared through which press notes and social media information will be easily available. It can be accessed on the website of any district. This initiative being taken by the MP Police in the direction of public service will not only facilitate citizens to register FIRs, but will also help in quick action and redressal of these crimes.
