Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Tests Positive for COVID-19 after Contact with State Ministers and Leaders

Madhya Pradesh: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has tested positive for COVID-19 after coming in contact with several ministers and officers of the state government, including Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP State President VD Sharma, and Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. Scindia was on a stay in Gwalior on April 15 and 16 and also visited Bhind during this time.
Scindia's son, Mahaaryaman Scindia, who is the Vice President of the Gwalior District Cricket Association, also tested positive for the virus just four days prior to his father's diagnosis. He is currently in home isolation.
The state of Madhya Pradesh has reported 57 new COVID-19 cases, with the highest number of cases (17) found in Indore, followed by Bhopal with 13 new cases. Gwalior reported 10 new cases, while Rajgarh and Jabalpur had six each, and Sehore had five. The number of active cases in Bhopal has remained above 100 for the past three days and has now increased to 113.
On Tuesday, a 73-year-old man infected with COVID-19 died in Jabalpur. The man had been ill for several days and was admitted to a private hospital where he passed away due to cardiac arrest. The district reported six new cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 41. All patients are currently in home isolation.
During the Ambedkar Mahakumbh held in Gwalior on April 16, Scindia came in contact with senior officers of the city, BJP leaders, newly formed presidents of all the 15 mandals, and workers. Upon his arrival, more than a hundred people welcomed him with garlands.
The investigation report of 176 corona suspects will be released by late night on Tuesday. The process of testing their samples is ongoing in the State Virology Lab.
