Woman raped multiple times was live streamed, two accused held by Gwalior police

GWALIOR: An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two youths in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh and the sexual assault was ‘live-streamed’ by one of the accused to his friend on video call. The rape was also recorded for blackmailing her, said police.
Incident took place last year. She preferred to remain mum fearing social stigma.
Two youths Vivek Yadav and Lalu Sahu – aged 25, were charged for rape and criminal intimidation. She was raped multiple times.
Incident took place in June 2021. She was in school at that time. Recently, when her parents got her engaged, the accused shared her pictures and videos to the family member of husband-to-be. Engagement was cancelled immediately.
Saddened parents decided to approach the police.
Investigations revealed that the accused initially befriended her. They called her to an isolated place and threatened to kill her brother and father if she refused to meet their demand.
Accused Lalu took her to a hotel, where he made a video call to his friend, so Vivek could watch the rape live. Vivek went a step ahead taking screenshots during the video call and recording the act.
He then showed the act live to his friend Vivek on Video call. When they started blackmailing her, she had lodged a complaint of molestation against them with Jhansi Road police station. Rape was no mentioned that time.
When the engagement was broken, she decided to reveal ordeals she went through. Accused are said to be absconding.
