No-Confidence Motion Against Speaker: Kamal Nath's Signature Missing; Leader of Opposition Alleges Assault by Narottam Mishra

Bhopal: The budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly was adjourned until March 13 after the Congress presented a no-confidence motion against Speaker Girish Gautam on the fifth day of the session. The Leader of Opposition, Dr. Govind Singh, accused Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra of assaulting him by throwing a book at him, leading to a commotion in the house.
Dr. Govind Singh alleged that he had asked the speaker when the no-confidence motion would be discussed when Mishra threw a manual of rules and regulations, hitting him. He further stated that a contempt motion would be brought against Mishra, who has no right to sit in the house.
Narottam Mishra denied the allegations, claiming that he was removing a peon and not throwing the book. Mishra also stated that Kamal Nath, the state president of Congress, had agreed to the no-confidence motion but did not sign it. The motion has the signatures of 48 MLAs, but Kamal Nath's signature is missing. However, Sajjan Verma said that Nath is currently in a job.
The Congress had announced its support for MLA Jeetu Patwari, who was suspended by the speaker on Thursday, leading to a protest by all Congress MLAs. Kamal Nath did not reveal his opinion on the suspension, and Dr. Govind Singh accused the government of hiding corruption, with the speaker's support. Mishra responded that if a no-confidence motion had to be brought, it should have been against him, as the basic work was his responsibility.
The no-confidence motion against the speaker remains pending until the next session on March 13.
