50-yr old tree gets uprooted in heavy rains after which Bhopal’s Palash Residency was named

BHOPAL: Continous two days shower have left Bhopal city powerless and flooding the city all around. A50-year-old palash tree was also uprooted. Incidentally, Bhopal's prestigious Hotel Palash Residency was named after this tree. The entire staff went emotional when they saw the tree's collapse during the rains. "The emotional attachment with the tree was obvious as the hotel was named after it only. It was the only Palash tree on the campus," said the general manager of Hotel Palash Residency, Ajay Shrivastava. Employees said that the tree was the pride of the hotel. "I have never seen such a huge trunked-palash tree ever in my life. The entire staff went sad after the tree was uprooted. We will all miss this tree," said the hotel's guest relations executive (GRE), Rano Aseri. She added, "I have been working in this hotel for almost 13 years. The attachment of the tree to the hotel could be gauged from the fact that the huge tree feels even without hurting anyone. It did not fall suddenly. It took time and fell on the top of the guard room without hurting and damaging any property so we got alerted before it fell down." MP Tourism's PRO Vikash Khare said, "Several expensive vehicles are parked near the tree. Had it fallen over them it could have been a major accident. However, it did not disturb anyone."  Restaurant supervisor Shabnam Khan said, "I work in the Southern Spices restaurant which is on the first floor of the hotel. I always used to see them whenever I worked. Its presence was important for every employee of the hotel. Now, the absence of this tree will miss everyone." In order to pay tribute to the palash tree, the hotel's GM Shrivastava said, "I have decided to plant 10 palash trees on the campus. We can't replace the palash tree that fell yesterday. However, by planting more palash trees we will develop more such trees for the future generation."
