Satna: After custodial death, Nagaud police station is accused of vandalism. This entire case is related to the death in custody of a young man running a small stitch shop. In fact, the police had arrested this young man on suspicion of playing bet. During interrogation at the police station, the young man died suspiciously. In this case, the police rushed the young man to the hospital and left him there.
At the same time, as the news of death in police custody spread, hundreds of people gathered and started demonstrating. Seeing the matter getting out of control, the top police officials not only acknowledged their mistake in front of the protesters, but also assured action on TI along with the police staff. In view of the seriousness of the case, a judicial inquiry was ordered first and later, TI was placed on line after suspension of 8 police personnel. According to sources, in Nagaud town, three people, including a young man named Ramlal Namdev, were detained by the Nagaud police on charges of betting. During interrogation at the police station, Ramlal suddenly fell unconscious. Seeing this condition of Ramlal, the hands of the police personnel present on the spot swelled up. Immediately they reached the local hospital with Ramlal and left him there. At the same time, doctors declared Ramlal dead after the medical checkup.
The news of death in police custody spread like fire. Demonstration started by placing the body under the leadership of former Congress MLA Yadvendra Singh. Police also reached the hospital. District collector also reached the spot to handle the matter. In order to calm the anger of the people, he also ordered a judicial inquiry. Collector assured to provide assistance of 3 lakh rupees. At the same time, Satna SP suspended eight police personnel, including an SI, who was in custody, finding them guilty. In addition, TI Arun Soni was was attached to line. Satna SP admitted that the young man Ramlal Namdev died in police custody. He assured that strict action will be taken against the guilty policemen after judicial inquiry.
At the same time, the District Collector announced to give ten thousand rupees for the last rites and two lakh rupees as financial aid to the relatives of the deceased. Not only this, the District Collector has also promised to get three lakhs from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The name of the deceased was added to BPL and pension was also approved. After these announcements, the postmortem of the deceased was done by a team of three doctors in the presence of the judge of the court of Nagaud.
Satna Superintendent of Police Riyaz Iqbal has suspended police personnel and attached the Arun Soni TI of the police station in-charge to the line. While assistant sub-inspector Umesh Tiwari, head constable Pushparaj Singh, constable Akash Dwivedi, constable Niranjan Mehra, constable Mohit Prajapati, lady constable Jaya Singh, head constable driver are suspended. Dhanendra Dahiya, constable Santram Prajapati was suspended with immediate effect.
